Frequently Asked Questions

What is Deep Ellum 100?

We are a community non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting creatives and industry workers in Deep Ellum, a historical neighborhood in Dallas, Texas. Our mission began as an effort to provide financial support for the Deep Ellum community in 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Since then we’ve raised over $60,000 in donations to provide 30 grants, released the Sounds of Deep Ellum, a commemorative 150th anniversary live album, and are providing a foundation to support the incredible people, places and experiences that make up Deep Ellum.

Who does it benefit?

Musicians, creatives, visual and performing artists, small businesses, entrepreneurs, bars, restaurants, and service industry workers essential to the Deep Ellum ecosystem.

How are grant recipients selected?

During each grant period, applicants are invited to submit an application detailing their work or business in Deep Ellum, and how a grant would benefit them personally. A virtual online grant meeting is held to assist our donors in helping to select the recipients. The applicant with the most votes in each category is then awarded a $2,500 grant. Hear the stories and review our previous virtual online grant meeting here on our website, and on Facebook, Youtube channel or read about each grant applicant on our website.

How are grants distributed?

All grants are crowdfunded and crowd sourced. Each donor plays an important part by helping us select the grant recipients Once we reach our fundraising goal, we then reach out to each donor to introduce the applicants and provide them with an opportunity to select the small business, service worker, artist or band. The nominees are then contacted and notified by our community board once the vetting process is complete and distributed to each individual.
